Tulip Cup
Tulip Cup is a small herald of spring — an object that holds the promise of light, colour, and renewal. Formed through pâte de verre — an ancient technique in which glass is fired in a mould — this piece uses the delicacy of the method to echo the tenderness of a flower just opening. The yellow tulip-shaped cup at the top evokes a bloom catching the first warm rays after winter, while the yellow-green stalk and substantial base ground it firmly in the new season’s rising energy. The contrast between the translucent yellow of the cup and the solid green base mirrors the moment when the frozen ground begins to soften and life pushes upward. The tulip form suggests both melting and blooming: ice giving way to sap, pale light deepening into brighter days.
