Winter’s Day
Winter’s Day is a study of the sky and air when winter has settled in. Formed as a rough, irregularly shaped panel, echoing the way a winter landscape is carved by wind, frost, and drifting snow. Its colour field moves gently through indigo, deep blue, soft blue‑gray, pale gray, and sky blue, finally dissolving into a soft white. These tones layer and blur into one another, like looking into cold air that is full of soft light yet emptied of warmth. The progression of colour traces the subtle shifts of a winter’s day: from the depth of early morning, through the brittle brightness of midday, to the muted glow of late afternoon when everything seems to fade into white. Some viewers find within the forms two “winter demons” dancing together with joy — figures emerging from curves, edges, and converging hues. This playful reading is welcome. Winter’s Day invites contemplation of winter as one of clarity and unexpected liveliness — a time when, in the simplest shifts of sky and colour, an inner dance quietly begins.
